Our materials

We choose materials for how long they last and where they come from. That means a handle built to stay, heads made from renewable plant feedstock rather than petroleum, and a return system to get the used brush heads back so we can recycle them.

A durable aluminium handle
The handle is machined alloy — strong, water-resistant and recyclable at the end of its life. It houses the motor, battery and electronics, which use conventional materials because waterproofing and safety depend on them. 

Plant-based brush heads
The head body is a plant-based bioplastic built on PLA. The bristles are a bio-based nylon made from castor oil, end-rounded. The tufts are anchored with a copper staple, so there are no adhesives in the head.

An Australian-made wall holder
The wall holder included with every toothbrush is made in Australia from plant-derived PLA, so it ships a short distance and comes from the same family of materials as the heads.

FSC-certified packaging
Our cartons and inserts use paper and board from FSC-certified, responsibly managed forests.

The Bepulo Loop
Every replacement head order includes a compostable hygiene pouch and a prepaid return envelope. Used heads come back to us free, and we're collecting returns until there's enough material for the first production run of bathroom accessories made from them.
