At Bepulo, we’ve always believed that better care starts with better choices — not just for your smile, but for the world we share. That’s why we’re proud to introduce our new Eco Brush Heads, made with PLA, a bio-based material that’s transforming how everyday products are made.

But what exactly is PLA? And how does it help reduce the world’s reliance on plastic? Let’s break it down.

What Is PLA?

PLA stands for Polylactic Acid, a bioplastic made from renewable plant sources such as corn, cassava, or sugarcane. Unlike traditional plastics, which come from petroleum, PLA is created through the fermentation of plant sugars, producing lactic acid that’s then polymerised into a strong, flexible material.

The result? A sustainable alternative that looks and feels like conventional plastic — but with a much smaller environmental footprint.

Why PLA Matters

Every year, millions of tonnes of plastic end up in landfills and oceans, taking hundreds of years to break down. PLA offers a smarter solution:

Renewable Origin

PLA is made from plants that can be grown again and again, rather than finite fossil fuels.

Lower Carbon Footprint

Producing PLA uses less energy and emits fewer greenhouse gases than traditional plastics.

Cleaner Manufacturing

Because PLA comes from natural feedstocks, it avoids the toxic chemicals often used in petroleum-based plastic production.

Supports a Circular Future

PLA is industrially compostable under specific conditions, meaning it can be broken down more responsibly at the end of its life cycle.

How We’re Using PLA at Bepulo

Our new L1 Next Sustainable Electric Toothbrush uses PLA for their outer casing — a material that’s renewable, safe, and beautifully crafted. It allows us to reduce our reliance on conventional plastics while maintaining the same performance, comfort, and quality our customers expect.

Combined with our recyclable alloy toothbrush body, we’re building products designed to last — and designed with the planet in mind.

Every time you brush with Bepulo, you’re helping to move away from single-use plastics and toward a more sustainable future.
